Joy

This drawing was bought by a customer in Germany.

It is called ‘Joy‘, and that is what I am feeling this week after a lovely suprise: I am being commissioned to produce a piece of writing by a UK cultural organisation.

Being paid to write is always good of course, but the fact that I’ve been invited to write about socially-engaged arts means the world to me! I will share the realities and challenges of the projects I produced during lock downs in Ireland.

Social arts practice is all about applying creativity for change, communication, and in solidarity with people. It is very much needed. It delights me that this is happening, not only because of my own inclusion, but because a light is being shone on socially-engaged art in general.
