Writing

“As a writer I put pen to paper for myriad reasons. Writing helps me to unravel my thoughts and it satisfies my urge to create something unique. I love to write, and that includes features as well as stories, songs, and poetry.”

Published text

Kathryn’s writing has appeared in journals, anthologies, and online. It has been published in Vox Galvia, Feral, Lothlorien Poetry journal, Pendemic.ie, Stanzas, Limerick Soviet, Not the Time to be Silent, The Irish Independent, and Cooking Potato Stories, and multicultural project with international participants.

In 2022 she was commissioned to write for the inaugral issue of new, peer-reviewed journal about socially-engaged arts practice in Europe.

Courses and workshops

Kathryn has designed and delivered creative writing courses in The Galway city museum, The Hunt musuem in Limerick, and at various venues in Kerry. Poetry Ireland sometimes fund her workshops so that people can avail of free poetry experiences.

'Magical Moments' was a multigenerational project featuring 16 writers from all over Ireland. Kathryn edited it and designed the front cover, which shows a young girl playing a toy guitar. Above her head is a vinyl record. The back cover says "printed in Ireland" and has a shamrock as well as a list of all 16 writers involved.

She has produced and published three multi-generational, inclusive community writing projects. The latest one, ‘Fur, Feather, Pen’ (2022), is a collection of poetry and prose by 10 writers. The A4 sized publication was printed sustainably and distributed for free to libraries and hospital waiting rooms.
